Stainless steel is a sustainable material in the environmental sense of the word; it is normally made with 60% recycled content (BSSA), which provides savings in the form of lower energy costs and reduced CO2 emissions within the manufacturing process. Stainless steel is still widely perceived as an expensive material. However, Life Cycle Cost calculations have shown that using a corrosion-resistant material to avoid future maintenance, downtime and replacement costs can produce economic benefits, which outweigh the higher initial costs. Sustainable Timber Procurement Policy
As a user of timber and wood-based products, SB Ironmongery Solutions Ltd recognises that it has a responsibility to current and future generations. By sourcing timber products, wherever and whenever possible, from sustainably managed forests, we aim to stimulate the improvement of forest management and discourage unsustainable timber management practices.
We consider it important that the origin of our sustainable wood-based products is demonstrated through credible, independent Chain of Custody certification based on international standards and norms. In this context, we recognise credible third-party certification systems accepted by government procurement policies and guidelines, such as the EU Timber Regulations, the UK Central Point of Expertise of Timber or the EU Green Public Procurement criteria, as evidence of responsible, sustainable sourcing. This includes the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the two largest forest certification systems globally.

Forest certification provides evidence of sustainable forest management. Mainstream forest certification systems (such as PEFC and FSC) will assist in promoting sustainable forest management.
In light of the above, the organisation explicitly agrees currently and in the future not to be directly or indirectly involved in the following unacceptable activities:
- Illegal logging or the trade in illegal wood or forest products
- Violation of traditional and human rights in forestry operations
- Destruction of high conservation values in forestry operations
- Significant conversion of forests to plantations or non-forest use
- Introduction of genetically modified organisms in forestry operations
